This growth position supports pediatric pharmacy services for the 115 bed UVA Children's Hospital. The schedule for the position is primarily day shift serving a Level IV NICU and PICU (both medical PICU and cardiac PICU patient popultions) but training will include heme/onc, renal, endocrine, GI, cardiology, and general acute care populations (flexiblity to cover these shifts if needed is required). Staffing may also include coverage of the pediatric satellite pharmacy (verification of pediatric specific oral dosage forms). This position staffs every 4th weekend along with other members of the pediatric team in a dedicated clinical coverage of the Children's Hospital and is responsible for covering all pediatric service lines outlined above as part of the team. Additional rotational shift coverage expectations: coverage of evening shift per weekend rotation or vacations/vacancies of evening pediatric pharmacists, nightshift (after 1 year of service) per department rotation to cover vacations or vacanies of overnight pharmacists (roughly 3-4 nightshifts every 6 months).
Additional job expectations include precepting pharmacy students and both PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents, participating in team and department goal setting and achievement, developing and implementing protocol and guideline updates. Other responsibilities may be delegated by the manager or team lead depending on need and interest areas of the applicant.
Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection dosage regimen design effective administration and drug therapy monitoring services in the UVA Medical Center. Monitors inpatient and outpatient drug therapies when appropriate and works with relating medical staff to find alternatives when needed to ensure the best care possible is being given.Provides clinical pharmaceutical care to patients.Enhances the quality of delivery of care.Demonstrates proficiency in Pharmacy distributive services.Supports the educational and professional development of the Pharmacy department.Engages in professional self-development.

Position Compensation Range: $52.46 - $83.94 HourlyMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or Pharm. D Degree required.
Experience: PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience. (3.years). PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas.
Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy. License required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider. BLS certification required
