Performs medication order entry and verification. Clarifies and/or resolves issues with any aspect of medication orders as necessary, including but not limited to: therapeutic duplication, medication/dose/frequency appropriateness, medication interactions, dosage form clarification, renal dose adjustments.
Monitors drug therapy to improve patient outcome and quality of care, recommends rational and cost-effective pharmacotherapeutics alternatives and provides accurate and efficient medication distribution. Implements and evaluates nutritional support and pharmacokinetic regimens. Supervises pharmacy technical staff.
Education: Bachelor degree in pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy degree from an accredited university with license to practice pharmacy in Alabama required; completion of post graduate pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience strongly preferred.
Experience: Completion of post graduate pharmacy residency, or equivalent clinical practice preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be proficient in mathematics.
