Introduction :    Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Clinical Psychologists to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the 377th Medical Group, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hospital: 377th Medical Group Location:   United States, Kirkland Airforce Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico    Minimum Qualifications:   + Degree : Must hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited psychology program or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force + Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association-accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Participate in and complete two phases of Air Force IBHC training. Demonstrate core competency skills to IBHC independent practice within 90 days of starting. The 90-day threshold for demonstration of core competency skills will be extended if the Air Force is unable to provide training opportunities within 90 days. Phase I training is approximately five days onsite at a CONUS location. The candidate must receive a “Pass” determination on the Phase I Training Core Competency Tool (CCT) before proceeding to Phase II. Phase II training will occur within 90 days of completion of Phase I training for a two-day course. The candidate must receive a “Pass” determination on the Phase II Training CCT to be deemed acceptable for the position. If the clinical Psychologist fails to pass the IBHC training or fails to demonstrate IBHC core competency, the contractor shall be required to provide a new HCW. The contractor shall not present the same HCW for another attempt + Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association + Experience: + Must have at least 12 months of experience, in the last 24 months, with assessing and providing evidence-based individual counseling to patients within a mental health or health care facility + Must have at least 12 months of direct hands-on experience in the last 24 months with computer operations, basic word processing, data entry, and use of an automated medical record system + Additional experience as required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions + Prefer those with recent experience (within the past three years) providing integrated behavioral health services within a primary care setting + The HCW shall serve as a member of the primary care clinic’s health care team and assist the primary care manager (PCM) in managing the overall health of their enrolled population + The program goal is to assist the Air Force Medical Home (AFMH) in meeting its core principles of “whole person orientation” and “coordinated/integrated patient care” by improving the management of cognitive and behavioral factors impacting the health of the enrolled population + Scope and responsibilities include patient care (e.g., functional assessment, targeted and collaborative problem solving) and consultation with AFMH members to identify (and efficiently and effectively target) primary problems impacting the enrolled population. Services will be governed by U.S. Air Force practice standards as delineated in the Behavioral Health Optimization Program (BHOP) practice manual + Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands Core Duties:   + Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges + Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate + Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders + Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries + Assist in the rehabilitation of patients + Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders, and school districts, as required + Maintain accurate and current mental health records for all patients, as appropriate and required + Participate in military-specific training (e.g., training to perform Command Directed Evaluations, Medical Evaluations Board, security clearances, Military Training Instructor clearances, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress) + Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: Quality Improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, Commander's staff meetings, Mental Health Flight meetings, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the Mental Health Flight Commander or his/her designated representative + Provide training to other staff in areas of expertise + Participate in professional peer review, case conferences, research studies, or other organizations required at the MTF + Clinical Psychologist is required to function in a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) location as a full-time equivalent provider as an internal behavioral health consultant (IBHC) and/or Behavioral Health Care Facilitator (BHCF) as outlined in DoDI 6490.15 Integration of Behavioral Health Personnel Services into Patience-Centered Medical Home Primary Care and Other Primary Care Service Settings and the BHOP Practice Manual + Maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients contacted for review by the managing physician + Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander's staff meetings, primary care staff meetings, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by supervisor. • The Clinical Psychologist cannot be used by the MTF’s Mental Health service to provide any non-IBHC or BHCF-related functions; nor is the Psychologist allowed to provide any clinical services that warrant the use of the BFDA MEPRS code + Will be required to travel, at Government expense, to attend directed training and/or conferences + As an Internal Behavioral Health Consultant in the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) the type of work may include, but is not limited to, the following: + Provide brief (typically no more than four appointments) cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care under the Air Force consultation model (i.e., per the Air Force Behavioral Health Optimization Program Practice Manual) + Services will mimic the pace of primary care (i.e., patients seen for 15- to 30-minute appointments) + May provide classes in a format appropriate for primary care (e.g., stress management class, sleep enhancement class, chronic pain class) + May participate in group medical appointments, including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop-in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA), as requested by the PCM + Work independently in the absence of direct oversight and adhere to Air Force values + Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing and resolving professional issues + Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous + Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/caregivers, and medical and non-medical staff professionally and courteously + Successfully consult with PCMs on-demand about general issues and specific patients + Ensure PCMs receive same-day verbal and/or written feedback on patients referred + Deliver brief presentations/trainings to primary care team members regarding behavioral health issues and IBHC services + Participate in team efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical pathway programs needed in the clinic + Provide technical direction and clinical insight into relevant projects being conducted at the site of service + Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in the patient’s electronic medical record within the allowable timeframe defined by the MTF standard after the patient is seen + Effectively manage a full daily patient load, as defined by the Mental Health Business Practice Standards and BHOP Manual of completing approximately 8-14 patient encounters per day + May include supervision of providers who are in training or not fully licensed; •May include participating in Air Force-approved research projects relating to Primary Care Behavioral Health + Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, and military commanders as required + Participate in military-specific training (e.g., use of the Air Force Guide for Suicide Risk Assessment, Management, and Treatment, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress, etc.) + Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander's staff meetings, primary care staff meetings, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by supervisor   + As a Care Facilitator (CF) in a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), the type of work may include, but is not limited to, the following: + IBHCs who are assigned to MTFs that have between 3,000 and 7,500 adult enrollees in the Family Health Clinic will provide both IBHC and CF services per the BHOP Manual + Participate in and complete Air Force care facilitator training + Demonstrate core competency skills to CF independent practice within 240 days of starting. The 240-day threshold for demonstration of core competency skills will be extended if the Air Force is unable to provide training opportunities within 240 days + Care facilitator training is an interactive computer-based training that is approximately five days in length. The candidate must complete all BHCF training requirements before engaging in BHCF patient care services + Contact referred patients to assess medication treatment adherence for depression, anxiety, and PTSD disorders + Use validated brief symptom inventories to assess current symptom severity + Assess barriers to treatment adherence and help patients’ problem-solve solutions to barriers + Provide patients with education regarding their behavioral health condition and treatment regimen + Maintain patient information in a patient registry Hours of Performance : The performance (duty) hours of the MTF are as follows: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change and may include nights and weekends. In the event the HCW is required to work beyond their scheduled duty hours for any reason, the duty hours will be adjusted within the current pay period; the HCWs shall not work more than 40 hours per week. The performance (duty) hours of the MTFs are as follows: 10 MDG, United States Air Force Academy Monday through Friday, 0730-1630. 460 MDG, Buckley Space Force Base, Monday through Friday, 0730-1630.
