Fort Irwin is located in the high desert of the Mojave, 40 miles north of Barstow, CA and the home of the National Training Center (NTC).  The NTC is the Army’s premier training site and trains over 50,000 troops a year in preparation for deployments worldwide.  We support the NTC’s mission to “Train the Force”.  Our organization has the mission to provide world-class healthcare to the 12,000 Soldiers and Family Members of the NTC, Fort Irwin and Yuma Proving Grounds (Yuma, AZ), as well as to support the rotational training units. Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH) is a small community hospital supported by over 400 military and civilian staff members with an inpatient capacity of 20 beds including both Mother/Baby and Medical/Surgical Wards.

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES:

Apply biopsychosocial evaluations to propose behavioral health interventions.Provide evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches.Provide primary care providers and staff regular and concise feedback on the status of referred patients, to include recommendations for team-based care.Implement psychoeducational classes to target high frequency diagnoses found in the primary care clinic.Document information in the electronic health record during patient encounters

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health Consultant):

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)
