The department of General Internal Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator 1 to work on the UHealth campus. The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 (A) serves as an entry-level clinical research professional that has a foundation in clinical research through assigned responsibilities in data management or implementing clinical research protocols. The incumbent is responsible for simple clinical research protocols and timelines.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Performs chart review/pre-screening activities for study participant eligibility and coordination of simple clinical research protocols. Maintains enrollment procedures according to the protocol.
+ Coordinates routine activities of clinical studies including data collection and maintenance, planning study timelines, schedules appointments and study visits, meeting scheduling, and project evaluation.
+ Performs moderate to complex research tests/ experiments and adapts procedures for quality improvement under supervision.
+ Understands and follows technical instructions for operating clinical research equipment, problem solves when operational failures occur.
Department Specific Functions
+ Researches, collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and maintains databases.
+ Conducts quality assurance checks, reports on the status of research activities, and submits monthly activity logs for protocol.
+ Organizes and coordinates community working group meetings for protocol activities.
+ Serves as primary point of contact for community partners and supervises and oversees research data collection at protocol venues in the community.
+ Reviews study progress, identifies areas of opportunity, and recommends solutions.
+ Prepares and updates study research procedures manuals.
+ Assists with the preparation of grant proposals by processing regulatory documents for all institutions and offices involved.
+ Contributes to the publication and presentation of significant results and writes and edits material for publication and presentation.
+ Maintains research files and responds to phone calls on the research study phone line.
+ In conjunction with research manager implements policies and procedures to accomplish project goals
+ Participate in community events and activities to increase awareness of the project
+ Help design and implement culturally appropriate recruitment strategies
+ Maintains effective lines of communications (phone/emails) with potential and enrolled participants to ensure adherence to study goals and objectives are met.
+ Recruit and enroll participants into the study including obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews and questionnaire completion with research participants according to detailed procedures and guidelines
+ Conducting basic examinations such as height, weight, automated blood pressure readings, and hip waist ratios according to detailed procedures and guidelines
+ Entering data, assisting with the creation and maintenance of databases
+ Sources and recruits study participants by using databases, social media, hospitals, mental health clinics, shelter programs, etc.
+ Prescreens and evaluates candidates for study participation.
+ Visits appropriate referral sources (i.e. hospitals, clinics, etc.) to market clinical studies/trials and conducts face-to-face screenings and assessments to determine eligibility; communicates with family or persons involved in participant’s care.
+ Provides analytical and well-documented recruiting reports to leadership
+ Participating in ongoing UM and sponsor trainings
+ Maintaining all required research certifications
+ Assisting with other research and administrative activities as assigned.
+ Established and oversees clinic study flow procedures
+ Facilitates in the scheduling of appointments for participants and actively monitors recruitment staff schedules for opportunities to schedule appointments
+ Maintains logs/progress reports to track both currently enrolled as well as follow-up patients/participants
+ Oversee procedures for collecting, processing and shipping bio-specimens to the designated bio-bank.
+ Maintenance and calibrations of study equipment (scales, centrifuges)
+ Verifies accuracy of research data and monitors data quality control
+ Helps prepares patient invoices for payments, repairs, trials, warranties etc.
+ Ensures data integrity and consistency
+ Helps develop forms for collections/summarizing data.
+ Providing assistance with IRB processes (e.g., abiding by requirement for reporting safety or study deviations, initiating modifications to study procedures
+ As needed, assists in study related procedures such as informed consent, obtaining survey data and study related examination
+ Participate in ongoing UM and research related trainings

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
+ Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
