Job Summary

Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Coordinator position available May-June 2025 at the Massachusetts General Hospital Gastrointestinal Unit). Our laboratory within the Center for Neurointestinal Health focuses on understanding the neurobiological mechanisms of gut motility. This position will involve running research studies on functional gastrointestinal disorders and eating disorders, treatment, and the impact of these disorders on quality of life. Responsibilities will involve recruiting patients, scheduling and organizing research visits, maintaining the Institutional Review Board and all regulatory and financial materials, acquiring and analyzing data, administrative coordination, and working with different GI patient populations.

This position is grant funded for a minimum of one year with the possibility of funding for a second year. Candidates should have a B.A., B.S. or M.S. in biological sciences, psychology, or related fields. Massachusetts General Hospital is an equal opportunity employer. Qualifications

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruits, screens, and enrolls subjects, both healthy volunteers and patient populations using Partners Rally, GI clinic referral, High Enroll and RPDR.Organizes regulatory systems for study protocols, including IRB regulatory binders, consent forms, screening materials and data collection sheets.Creates and manages IRB submissions such as protocol amendments, continuing reviews, and any unexpected event tracking.Maintains study databases on Insight, clinicaltrials.gov, and MGB Rally.Prepares and presents data reports for investigators, study monitors, IRB, and research collaborators.Opportunity for performing analyses on physiological, behavioral, and other collected data to present at conferences or publish in peer-reviewed research journals.Coordinates lab activities and other administrative duties.Assists in grant writing and compiling data for grant reports. Attends weekly Neurogastroenterology meetings, and monthly CiPNI meetings to facilitate knowledge of recent research in the fields of Neuroimaging and Gastroenterology.Mentors summer students and recent additions to the lab. 

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES DESIRED:

Strong oral and written communication skills with both internal and external communications.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established recruitment and project deadlines.Independence in self-management of assigned responsibilities and strong collaborative skills for working as part of a small study team and a larger lab.Interpersonal skills for interacting with individuals from various backgrounds and fields of expertise.High degree of professionalism and ability to interact with study population, as well as a large, multi-disciplinary team of collaborators.Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail to maintain accurate records of research.Strong analytical and computer skills required. Proficiency with computer spreadsheet, word-processing and database software for collecting and organizing study data.Proficiency in bash scripting, Matlab, python, or R strongly preferred. The CRC will also be responsible for evaluating and tracking the recruitment process including outcomes, expenditures, and reporting to investigators on outcomes related to study progress. The CRC will conduct all study related activities according to HIPAA and IRB guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primary work location will be at the Center for Neurointestinal Health at MGH Gastrointestinal Unit, this includes the Research Office, clinics, and inpatient units.
