Job Summary

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a highly motivated and organized person with excellent multi-tasking and record-keeping skills to join our research team full time. This position provides administrative support for ongoing research endeavors in the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The characteristic duties and responsibilities of this position involve research participant interaction and management of day-to-day study activities. This individual will work with the faculty and clinical staff to enroll study participants, collect and manage data, and support day-to-day operations of the research.  

Supervision Received: This position receives direct supervision and reports directly to Faculty Principal Investigator.

This position may independently provide study coordination for simple and moderately complex clinical research studies.  As  a member of a coordination team, this position may help support a portfolio of projects with varying levels of complexity. Mastery of all job duties from the CRC-Technician position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder is required.

Responsibilities*

Coordinating with clinical faculty on weekly progress of the study including recruitment, enrollment, and data collectionShared responsibility to conduct all necessary daily study activities including enrollment, data collection, and data analysisMonitor and review pre- and post-operative survey data submitted by participants throughout study participation; conduct quality checks and reach out to participants to obtain missing data as neededMedical record data abstraction to collect primary and secondary study outcomesCoordinate IRB submission and renewals for the study teamsPatient counseling regarding study details for enrollmentAdditional study related activities as needed, based on recruitment numbersRequired Qualifications*Associate degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.ONE of the following:Minimum 1 years of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary. Please review SoCRA's Definition of a Clinical Research Professional qualifying experience prior to applying.An advanced degree in a health-related areas such as: Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Clinical Research Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Epidemiology, Foreign MD.Minimum 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.Proficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelHighly motivated, detail-oriented, conscientious, responsible, and excellent organizational skillsAble to work non-traditional hours to accommodate study participant schedulesInternet access and remote work capabilities including Zoom and Teams proficiencyPossess initiative and willingness to learn new tasksAbility to work independently as well as with other team membersStrong interpersonal skills (with adolescents as well as peers), professional demeanor, dependability, and ability to work well under pressureExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to respect and protect confidential and highly sensitive informationPrior experience in or working knowledge of the health care fieldExperienced with discussing sensitive topics like facial disabilities or deformitiesDesired Qualifications*Bachelor's degree in health science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.1-2 years of experience with survey research and/or data management.Background in biostatistics and familiarity with SPSS software.Working knowledge of Qualtrics, REDCap, MiChart, and/or data analysis software.Work Schedule

Hours could vary to accommodate study participants schedules.

Background Screening
