Job Summary

The Center for Advancing Research in Identity, Sexuality, and Equity at the University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) is seeking a Clinical Research Technician who will work with faculty Principal Investigators (PIs) from the Department of Health Behavior and Biological Sciences on grant-funded research projects. The projects examine the role of violence in influencing HIV clinical care and HIV risk behaviors among cohorts men in the US. The primary responsibilities working directly with the project managers, PIs and research team to assist in the implementation and ongoing coordination of complex cohort studies of men living with HIV or at risk for HIV infection and transgender people living with HIV or at risk for HIV infection. The selected candidate will undertake study activities, including but not limited to conduct in-person study visits with research participants including collecting biologic samples at our Ann Arbor and Detroit study sites; recruitment and retention of study participants; monitor data collection; package and ship specimen collection kits and monitor lab results; monitoring supplies; and support research compliance. Supervision is received from the PI and Project Manager.

This is a term-limited position due to salary funded on a grant.

Responsibilities*Work in research clinic to obtain blood, urine and pharyngeal specimens according to laboratory specifications, following written procedures without deviation. 
 Handle all specimens according to research protocol, process specimens in preparation for shipping to central lab within mandated timelines.
 Model professional and respectful behavior at all times, providing the highest level of service to all internal and external customers
 Work effectively with others to accomplish common goals
 Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
 Conduct in-person study assessments at multi-site locations (Ann Arbor and Detroit), including collecting informed consent, administering surveys, and collecting blood samples.
 Monitoring supplies
 Creating shipments
 Other duties as assigned or arise required for the research project.

Required Qualifications*High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary; Bachelor's degree in a health-related field is preferred.
 A minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
 Demonstrated customer service skills.
 Candidate should be able to demonstrate experience with, or passion for, working with the LGBT community. Modes of Work
