CLINICAL RESOURCE NURSE

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Resource Nurse is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the unit. The primary ways in which the resource nurse supports the unit are through addressing staffing needs on an ongoing basis, facilitating throughput of admissions and discharges, assisting with direct patient care as needed, and role modelling effective collaboration and conflict management with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team.
Key responsibilities include: • Responsible for collaborating with the Clinical Manager, other members of the nursing leadership team, and the Admitting Department or Nursing Office to ensure smooth flow of patients admitted to the unit in a timely manner. • Responsible for working with nursing staff, medical teams and case management to identify all discharges and potential discharges at the beginning of the shift and on an ongoing basis. • Responsible for collaborating with operations staff to ensure discharge information is processed in a timely and accurate manner. • Provides direction, support, and assistance to staff in the assessment of the patients' needs, the development of patient care plans and interventions. • Organizes and participates in regular patient care conferences/rounds. • Maintains awareness of staffing levels vs. patients' acuity and bed status. This includes awareness of nurse: patient ratio redistribution of patient assignment as necessary. • Coordinates nurse shift breaks and time owing according to unit needs. • Staffs unit when unplanned absences/sick calls occur on subsequent shifts in collaboration with the Clinical Manager • Communicates shift problems/concerns to Clinical Manager. • Maintains a sound knowledge of all BHB policies, procedures, unit protocols and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications & Registration required: • Bachelor Science Degree Nursing (BSN), required. • Masters candidate (MSN) preferred. • Perioperative/Perianesthesia skills are essential • Current certifications: CPR, I.V, ACLS preferred • 2-3 years post-graduate operating room department experience and excellent clinical skills required. • Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council (BNC), required. • Membership with the Bermuda Nurses Association (BNA), encouraged. Schedule: 35 hours per week. Some shifts and weekends as required. Salary: NS50 $99,010.69 per annum (54.4015 per hour)
