Clinical Resource Nurse - Neonatal ICU (NICU) - F/T Nights

The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care for patients he/she is called to care for. The CRN is responsible for providing clinical expertise to defined areas of the Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities Communicates and collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated care to the patient during unit huddles and multidisciplinary rounds. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport and participating in team problem solving. Supports the unit charge RN as needed. The CRN assists with the throughput of the unit, acts as an ADT nurse when needed and escalates discharge barriers. Offers support to the unit RNs with challenging assignments, procedures, and/or active changes in a patient's condition. Assists in verifying oncology/BMT treatment plans and chemotherapy orders. The CRN will also support other units in the Children's Hospital by coordinating and administering off-unit chemotherapy administration and supporting off-unit patients requiring oncology/palliative expertise. Audits compliance for regulatory standards and reporting structures. Collects and documents data from unit specific Quality Measures and audits. Participates in role specific performance improvement and data collection. Provides new and updated education on chemotherapy/biotherapy, treatment plans, new initiatives, and case studies. The CRN will be able to identify gaps in practice and provide education as needed. Assists with planning and coordinating orientation for new staff and skill validations. Coaches and encourages eligible RNs to achieve certification and clinical ladder status. Serves as a role model and leader to other nurses in the organization. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending internal educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in committee/council activities. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. The CRN models processes and best practices as defined by HUMC policy, along with guidelines and best practices as defined by APHON. Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, current registered nurse license in the State of New Jersey. Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing in pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT. Proficiency in pediatric hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant critical thinking skills. Exhibits self-direction and use of a broad knowledge base, critical thinking, delegation, problem solving skills and protocol development. 5. Exceptional verbal and non-verbal, written and listening skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and function in a collaborative role. Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple complex situations simultaneously. Computer proficiency in Google applications.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Professional certification in CPON, CPHON, BMTCN. If certification is not met, the CRN must obtain certification within one year of hire.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification - BLSPediatric Advanced Life Support - PALS
