Clinical Resource RN

The STAT Resource nurse is a registered nurse who acts as an expert clinical resource for nursing staff and provides support and direct patient care to all inpatient and outpatient departments as needed. The Resource RN will assist with IV line placement for difficult stick patients utilizing ultrasound guided IV insertion techniques.  They will be responsible for the placement of small bore feeding tubes for patients in the medical/surgical units.  The Resource Nurse will assist the Radiology department with pacemaker MRIs, CTAs, and CT contrast injections into a central like.  They will also be responsible for assessment of central lines and assisting with central line dressing changes.   

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

New York State Registered Professional Nurse license and current registration. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred BLS and ACLS Required

Experience: Minimum of 1 year independent experience.

                                                                                                              

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 The position is located indoors and also has community responsibilities which the incumbent will need to attend.  Should be able to push/pull 35 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations.  Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or work station for a prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance.  Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Becomes proficient in the insertion of USGIVs to include the insertion of PIV, extended dwell IVs and PICC/Midlines Completes a focused patient assessment related to IV Therapy using subjective and objective data sources to determine the appropriate IV access. Assess all central lines including triple lumen catheters, PICC lines, and HD catheters.  Assists with central line dressing changes. Competent in small bore feeding tube insertion utilizing IRIS technology.  Assists radiology on contrast administration for the patient with a central line and monitoring of pacemaker patients requiring an MRI Proficient in administering medications (i.e.Nitro or beta-blockers) required for Coronary CTA Completes annual competency education and training for Interventional Radioloy/Radiology competencies as appropriate to role.

Salary Range: $37.54-$53.18/hour                    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
