Clinical RN or LVN

Position Summary for RN:

Functions as a staff nurse under the guidance and supervision of an experience R.N.  Performs routine patient care assignments and carries out established nursing procedures utilizing the nursing process.

 Position Summary for LVN:

The LVN scope of practice is a directed scope of practice and requires appropriate supervision.  The LVN functions within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Medical Center Health System.  The LVN is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and focused nursing care to assigned patients with predictable health needs.

Education:

Hold a current Texas permit or license as a Registered Nurse (BSN preferred) or holds a current Texas permit or license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.   BSN preferred.

Training and Experience:

Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire or transfer to department. 

 Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association within 12 months of hire or transfer to department. 

RN only: Trauma Nurse Care Course (TNCC) within 18 months of hire or transfer to department. 

RN only: Two years of RN experience in acute care setting preferred.
