The Clinical Simulation Educator is to serve as a member of the clinical simulation team as an Instructor and Coordinator at Tarleton's main campus located in Stephenville, Texas. The Clinical Simulation Educator is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality clinical simulation-based education that enhances patient safety and quality during healthcare delivery. The simulation educator ensures adherence to program policies, course objectives, program outcomes, safety measures, and Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practices (HSSOBP). The successful applicant will bring two years of experience in healthcare simulation, human patient simulators, virtual reality, and HSSOBP. This 12-month faculty appointment reports to the Assistant Dean of Clinical Learning and Simulation located on Tarleton's main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the University’s discretion. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship. Responsibilities:Simulation-Based Learning and Education Duties (60%): + Provide orientation to new simulation lab staff and oversee their training. + Test developed simulation scenarios at the simulation center before scenario launch. + Conduct debriefing within scope and knowledge or assist content expert with debriefing. + Develop and implement training and educational programs for all simulation users, including prebriefing and debriefing. + Incorporate best practices and evidenced-based research in program development, focusing on standardization and efficiencies across the continuum of simulation education. + Facilitate simulation-based educational activities, including prebriefing, simulation scenarios, skills stations, and debriefing as necessary. + Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, simulation technology specialists, and other stakeholders to develop, integrate, implement, and evaluate simulation-based education and events, including learning objectives, briefing, case scenarios, debriefing, evaluation tools, and program planning adhering to the HSSOBP. Technology Duties (10%): + Operate simulators and run high-fidelity scenarios. + Develop technical proficiency with basic aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement needs for simulation equipment. Compliance & Collaboration Duties (30%): + Maintain learner confidentiality + Develop and implement program 􀁻valuation and improvement initiatives + Conduct simulation center tours and demonstrations as deemed necessary + Participate in the collection of data for ongoing research or grant requirements + Engage in opportunities to learn about current developments and best practices in simulation + Assure educational programs comply with standards set forth by the appropriate accrediting agencies + Coordinate collecting and analyzing the simulation program data on learner evaluation and satisfaction + Network with other lab/simulation educators at the local/state/national level to develop and utilize best practices + Develop, implement, and evaluate simulation-based education activities to meet regulation and accreditation standards + Other duties as assigned Required Education and Experience: Master's Degree in nursing or related field Two years of experience in clinical nursing practice in an acute care settingTwo years of healthcare simulation experience Required Licenses and Certifications: If applicable, a current unencumbered Registered Nurse License or other current professional licensure by state or national board is required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course Completion Card Preferred Education and Experience: Two years of experience teaching in a nursing education programThree years of related experience in simulation Preferred Licenses and Certification: CHSE - Certified Health Simulation EducatorCommitment to obtain CHSE within one year of the hire dateCommitment to obtain Instructor BLS within one year of the hire date Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrate ability in the discipline and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.Knowledge of and adherence to the HSSOBPExperience with human patient si111ulators /medical procedure simulators and modelsStrong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, Google applications, and Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas or Blackboard Learn Other Requirements or Other Factors: This position is security-sensitiveThis position requires some work beyond normal work hoursThis position requires up to 25% intermittent travel is required for this positionThis position requires compliance with Tarleton State University and Simulation Policies and ProceduresAll tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with Tarleton State University and simulation center safety requirements Documents Required: Completed online application Cover letter Resume/CV Three professional references with complete contact information Unofficial transcripts All positions are security-sensitive.
