Clinical Staff Education Manager

Job Overview

Under the direction of the VP of Quality, Compliance and Risk, this position works collaboratively to assess, identify, plan, implement, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational activities for professional and paraprofessional staff. This includes the tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of home-based care to improve healthcare practice in standard and specialty areas. Using expertise in education and professional development practices, this position collaborates with staff, leadership, and Tufts Medicine content experts to implement and evaluate professional development programs that influence professional role competence, continuous learning and growth, promotes synergistic practices and patient outcomes throughout the organization. Oversees HH/HSPC clinical educators and supports HH/HSPC clinical managers, and interprofessional teams to implement, document, and modify evidence-based, quality, and educational programs/activities that promote professional competency and role performance for nursing and non-licensed staff.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Nursing or Education.

2. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

3. Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and appropriate state board where services will be provided.

4. Three (3) years of home-based care nursing experience, including nursing leadership and education/teaching nursing skills experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Prior experience teaching standards of nursing practice – content and application (lab) (head to toe assessment, IV skills, wound care etc.) at collegiate level.

2. Prior experience in hospice care.

Develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates onboarding, orientation, annual competency, and all other competency programs for all healthcare personnel.Responsible for continuing education program and application of content for continuing education credits through approved associations.Assists in development and maintenance of formal preceptor program with clinical leadership.Responsible for Student Program – works collaboratively with colleges, universities to align students with home care clinical placement and experience.Incorporates diverse learners in planning education to meet gender, race, culture, generational differences within target audience.Collaborates with support departments including but not limited to quality, clinical leadership, IT, Human Resources and other departments/roles to provide contributions and advancements in decisions regarding education.Serves as a preceptor (or mentor) for other professional nurses (and staff or students for all disciplines) to ensure that there is a current and future qualified workforce, modeling the professional practice of nursing and creating a healthy work environment not sure that I understand this functionApplies current standards, guidelines, policies, and regulations into education that is offered.Upholds all health care system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies put forth by this job description and professional association including clinical, legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards.Tracks education hours for regulatory agencies.Develops innovative solutions and strategies to secure appropriate resources and technology for professional development initiatives.Stays current on technology to support teaching and learning (EPIC, Workday, Learning Management Software).Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence base practice, uses analytical/critical thinking and ensuring that care is individualized; coordinating care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.Supervises and collaborates with the staff education team to ensure that they demonstrate effective teaching skills, critical thinking, patient first focus, industry best practices and clinical competence.Supports the mission and values of Tufts Medicine.
