Managing the clinical practice environment and/or practice suites from a "Patient First" perspective, the Clinical Supervisor effectively administers applicable policies and procedures, ensures that practice operations are in compliance with required standards, and utilizes available resources within budgetary constraints. The incumbent handles a broad range of day-to-day operational activities, including supervision of clinical staff, actively participates in quality and service improvement, serves on departmental and interdepartmental committees, and keeps practice management apprised of the practices or suite' clinical issues and concerns.
Reporting to the Practice Manager or Nurse Manager, the Clinical Supervisor serves as the nursing expert for the assigned site(s). The incumbent identifies and implements educational and developmental opportunities for staff, convenes nursing meetings/huddles, develops nursing policies and procedures, oversees clinical staffing and schedules, and provides guidance to management on nursing and medical assistant issues and concerns. This role serves as a member of the site leadership. Clinical staff including RNs, LPNs, and nursing support roles (i.e., MAs, PCTs, OAs, Orderlies) report directly to the Clinical Supervisor.
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for interpreting and applying BH personnel policies and procedures. The incumbent demonstrates leadership skills that foster a collaborative, team-based environment and coordinates all issues related to personnel management and staff development including hiring, training, performance management, and evaluations for clinical staff including RNs, LPNs, and nursing support roles (MAs, PCTs, OAs Orderlies).
Additionally, this position in the outpatient suites will oversee the correction of all billing edits and denial reports produced by Patient Accounting and the Physicians Billing Office. The incumbent is expected to adhere to system and department compliance policies and any applicable laws and regulations as well as observe all health and safety requirements.
**Job Responsibilities:**
**1)** Develops and maintains clinical operations policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care and service. Introduces strategies, tactics, and training to improve the patient experience.
**2)** Participates in the recruitment and retention of a qualified, high-functioning, clinical workforce focused on "putting patients first." Evaluates clinical staff and offer coaching, guidance, and development opportunities to assist staff in functioning at the top end of their job descriptions. In collaboration with the manager, conducts and implements performance management activities. Participates and assists in Seeks to heighten staff engagement.
**3)** Serves as the nursing expert for the assigned site(s). Identifies and implements educational and developmental opportunities for staff, convenes nursing meetings/huddles, develops outpatient nursing policies and procedures, oversees clinical staffing and schedules, and provides guidance to management on nursing issues and concerns. Leads the development of nursing workflows that improve efficiency and patient-centered care. This includes workflow in medical departments like Cancer Centers, Interventional Radiology/Cat Scans, Pharmacy to ensure patient satisfaction
**4)** Serves as a regular member of the site-based leadership team. Attends regular management meetings, provides input on departmental strategy and issues, and works to attain departmental goals.
**5)** Provides ongoing leadership in the areas of quality and service improvement, access, and patient satisfaction. Takes action to help ensure attainment of BH standards for access, patient satisfaction, and quality and metrics.
**6)** Partners effectively with the Practice Manager, Medical Director, Division Chiefs, and other practice leaders to ensure the attainment of annual goals and objectives.
**7)** Observes all health and safety requirements. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission requirements and other regulatory standards, laws, and regulations applicable to ambulatory settings.
**8)** Takes a leadership role with respect to site-specific initiatives such as the attainment of NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition or other BMP or departmental initiatives.
**9)** May represent the site(s) on departmental, BMP, or BH committees, work groups, or task forces.
**10)** In the Clinical Suite departments will be required to perform chart audits to ensure legal documentation required for all regulatory compliance standards. Collators with transfusion medicine to perform blood audits, attend TP BURC meetings, and adhere to the American Association of Blood Bank (AABB) standards for all transfusions.
**Required Work Experience:**
**1)** 3 to 5 years of nursing experience in an ambulatory nurse or inpatient nurse.
**Preferred Work Experience:**
**1)** Leadership experience preferred.
**Skills and Competencies:**
**1)** Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in partnership with physicians and other clinicians. Good analytical skills. Comfortable working with data and metrics. Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
