**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs a variety of technical assignments which are broadly outlined, require some theoretical insight and occasionally require the interpretation of results. Exercises complex skill and judgment, and knowledge of the principles and methods of a technical field. Serves as a resource to physicians, nurses and other laboratory personnel regarding specimen handling and processing in CoreLab.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Performs all specimen processing functions accurately, following established procedures. Prepares samples for testing, including centrifugation and aliquoting. Manages daily requests for lab section testing. Submits cases to prep staff and monitors the results process. Resolves issues and discrepancies to ensure efficient workflow and final result.
+ Reviews billing codes, patient identity, and physician identity on daily subset of resulted cases. Prepares monthly documentation of errors for Quality Assurance leadership.
+ Takes daily temperatures, informing lab leaders of any out-of-range results, stocks daily media noting expiration dates. Rotates stock and assists with aliquoting reagents. Follows up with written documentation when necessary. Performs and documents preventive maintenance on equipment.
+ Assists with miscellaneous clerical duties, including scanning documents, packing daily mail of final reports, and faxing reports. Assists cytotechnology prep staff and couriers with supply requests. Greets and assists patients, as needed, including scheduling follow up appointments if necessary. Orders, credits, and cancels tests in the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Follows laboratory policies and procedures, including safety and customer service protocols. Suggests improvements to work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems.
+ Prepares incoming consult cases for interdepartmental review. Retrieves slides and prepares paperwork for consult requests to outside institutions. Maintains a record of all consultation cases.
+ Assists in training new personnel in duties and responsibilities. Conducts cross training for current staff in all technical areas and is responsible for completion of training/sign off material.

**MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
+ Associate's degree in Laboratory Sciences and technical training closely related to this position required
+ 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
+ Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
