POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation Services, this position is accountable for supporting the inpatient therapy services team members.

Evaluates patients, designs, and modifies treatment programs in accordance with the physician prescription, supervises assistants, technicians, treatment programs and maintains proper documentation as required by the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports leadership in daily staffing decisions

Daily staffing and minimum 75% patient care caseload

Supports weekly huddles

Supports yearly performance reviews for inpatient rehab services staff

Supports 180 day reviews for new associates

Participates in orientation and mentoring for new associates and 30,60 and 90 day reviews

Initially manages customer concerns/complaints

Supports staff meetings as needed

Supports interview and hiring process.

Supports leadership in disciplinary action as appropriate

Performs regular chart reviews/audits

Maintains inventory and helps make decisions about equipment ordering for patient care

Helps facilitate processes and data collection and analysis to maintain compliant with company and payer regulations

Initiate and encourage good communication and relationships with physicians and other health care personnel involved in the provision of patient care.

Perform objective, evidence-based patient evaluations and treatments. Provide appropriate discharge and DME/adaptive equipment recommendations

Provide appropriate supervision to therapy assistants and Rehab techs

Identify age related differences within the persons served and will adjust treatment style and expectations as appropriate. Build on existing skills and knowledge through continuing education.

Must be able to meet productivity expectations as determined by management each fiscal year.

Maintain all necessary documentation as required by departmental policy.

Participate actively in daily operations of the department and contribute to its compliance with regulations and customer service expectations.

Adhere to the code of ethics adopted by the department and the profession and to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology

Certification/Licensure:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationCurrent State of Michigan licensure: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathology

Experience:

3-5 years of clinical experience, with some supervision of other staff preferred.

Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups. Provides daily oversight and direction of care plan and patient activities while supporting the mission, strategy and business philosophy of Trinity Health Fair and consistent leadership skills Develops, maintains and manages desired relationships with leaders, physicians, colleagues, visitors and the community. Strong skills in human and financial resource management, data analysis, facilitation and collaboration. Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence and decision-making experience to function as a member of a collaborative leadership team. Ability to operate under pressure with multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines and priorities. Must possess a personal presence, which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission/vision, and values of Trinity Health.
