Clinical Trainer
Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for training and ensuring Medical Assistant (MA) clinical staff are performing clinical skills & procedures according to Standard Policy and Protocols and other training materials/requirements. In conjunction with Quality, implements training and competencies on quality initiatives, key performance indicators (KPIs) and incorporating quality standards into daily work. This position does not encompass licensed nursing competency assessment that is outside the scope of the MA role. Conducts evaluation and measurement of associates understanding and compliance with all applicable clinical procedures. Collaborates with Operations Team to lead the planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating of educational and quality programming for the Medical Group practices. Focuses on establishing productive relationships and achieving expected outcomes of educational activities.

Assesses and trains new clinical associates to perform patient care duties within Medical Group standards and regulatory requirements to include ensuring effective use of Epic (CarePATH/ConnectCare). Collaborates with and provides feedback to practice operations to ensure associate successfully completes pertinent clinical competencies.
Coordinates annual associates training and competencies completion. Assists with development of skills check lists.
Routinely rounds and works collaboratively with practice staff and operations team to identify performance data for key quality indicators and helps develop improvement plans.
Prepares training and presentations and performs required applicable in-service education at each practice site on new workflows or initiatives.
In collaboration with practice leadership, analyzes quality results and develops education and workflows for clinical staff, using quality models such as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Lean or Six Sigma to improve subsequent results, ensuring implementation, evaluation and continuous monitoring.
Trains clinical staff and is a provider resource on the Primary Care dashboard. Works with Operations for communication of system enhancements and optimization. Identifies and introduces best practice processes deploying to employed practices, to improve quality outcomes.
Assists operations with clinical office patient-flow re-design and troubleshooting to assist in optimizing practice and achieving demonstrable excellence in quality.
Collaborates with the operations team to ensure compliance with regulatory agency clinical standards that govern the outpatient physician offices such as CMS, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), States Department of Health (DOH) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) etc., including controls, logs, and internal standards are provided in accordance with Medical Group policy and regulatory requirements. Responsible for maintaining competency and training documentation, including education attendance records, personnel certifications, etc.
Assists Operations managers with the process and preparations to help ready practices for and during inspections and onsite visits from regulatory agencies.

Required Minimum Education: Vocational/ Technical Degree
Specialty/Major: Medical Assisting (Diploma Program), Nursing Degree
Preferred Education: 2 Year/ Associates Degree
Specialty/Major: Medical Assisting, Nursing, Education, Training and Development or similar field.
Licensure/Certification Required:
Current, active, unrestricted nursing license in practicing state OR must be a Medical Assistant credentialed through the American Association of Medical Assistants – CMA (AAMA), American Medical Technologists – RMA (AMT), National Healthcareer Association NHA CCMA, or the National Center for Competency Testing – NCMA. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of medical group practice experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Demonstrated ability in project management and leading quality and process improvement initiatives. Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office specifically Excel. Must possess excellent problem-solving, data aggregation and analysis skills. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with both physicians and practice staff. Classroom facilitation and presentation.
