*POSITION SUMMARY*
To be fully engaged in modeling the Health First I-CARE Values and providing safe and efficient transportation of patients and equipment within the hospitals. The Clinical Transport Shift Lead monitors the daily workload to provide direction and prioritization throughout the shift, mentoring staff in proper patient throughput and care. The shift lead supports the team in goal setting and achieving positive outcomes, and supports the manager/supervisor with performance feedback and schedules.
*Part Time position. Schedule would be Sunday 7a-7:30pm and Monday 7pm - 7:30am*
*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES*
1. Understands and utilizes the transport tracking system to meet staffing productivity standard on assigned shift.
2. Monitors the transport tracking system for inefficiencies and initiates corrections, escalating to manager/supervisor as appropriate.
3. Assists with conducting daily shift huddle to discuss safety, performance and hospital updates.
4. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and monitors for department service standards.
5. Monitors for appropriate use and inventory of supplies, escalating any issues to manager/supervisor.
6. Ensures proper use, care, distribution and repair of equipment, escalating any issues to manager/supervisor
7. Ensures associates are clocking in and out for shift and meal break per Health First policy.
8. Rounds multiple times throughout the shift to collaborate with units, ensure egress and perform unannounced job observations to enhance throughput.
9. Is the responsible point-of-contact to ensure proper tracking for all specialty and rental beds.
10. Welcomes patients to the discharge lounge and ensures all patients are logged in and have a caring farewell.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent
* Work Experience: Previous lead or shift supervision experience preferred.
* Licensure/Certification:
* Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider completion card and maintain annually with no interruption.
* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Computer experience with spreadsheet and word processing programs preferred
o Proficient in transport tracking technology, with demonstrated understanding of productivity metrics to flex staff to meet volumes
o Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
o Ability to work effectively in a stressful, fast paced environment
o Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities with calm and effective response
o Ability to clearly direct and instruct others and effectively share feedback
o Organizational and assessment skills to effectively prioritize, coordinate, and schedule variable transport requests.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Moderate*
* Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently
* Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance
* May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head
* May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift
* May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise
* May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
* Communicating with others to exchange information.
* Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks
* Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote
* May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle
*COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT/SKILLS CHECKLIST:*
* Associates must complete within three months of hire and annually.
