What we want The part-time Clinical Veterinarian, under general direction, provides diagnostic and clinical veterinary care for client-owned animals in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. This includes Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Medicine, Equine Community Practice, Equine Field Service, General Surgery, (Equine) Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Oncology, Operating Room, Ophthalmology, (Equine) Orthopedics, Primary Care, (Equine) Soft Tissue & Minimally Invasive Surgery, (Equine) Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Equine Theriogenology, Food Animal Field Service, and Food Animal Medicine & Surgery. The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences will not sponsor applicants for non-immigrant employment categories. Special Note: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. Required Education and Experience: + A graduate of College of Veterinary Medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) or having certification by the AVMA’s education commission for foreign veterinary graduates (ECFVG) or the program for the assessment of veterinary education equivalence (PAVE) + Three years of related experience Required Licenses and Certifications: + Licensed DVM in at least one state; state of Texas Veterinary License + Must have a passing score on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) and the Texas State Board examination Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Other Requirements or Factors: + Emergency on-call and back-up support may be required and includes receiving after hours phone calls from house officers and on occasion coming into the hospital to deliver patient care after hours + Stands on feet for extended periods of time + Must be able to lift or move objects and/or animals of medium weight + Works beyond normal offices hours and/or work on weekends Preferred Licenses and Certifications: + Proof of board-certification in relevant specialty, if applicable Responsibilities: + Provides and directs clinical care of client-owned animals including diagnosis and treatments. + Coordinates with technical staff, clinicians, interns, residents, and students for clinical services. + Provide on-call and backup emergency services, as needed. + Performs diagnostic surgical and medical procedures as needed. + Teaching responsibilities will include clinical teaching of 4th year professional veterinary students as well as mentoring and training service residents and any interns or visiting residents on the service.
