Clinician – Admin Cardio Pulmonary

UPMC Hamot, a Magnet Designated Hospital, is seeking a Full-Time Clinician to join the Admin Cardio-Pulmonary team!

We are excited to invite a dedicated and skilled Full-Time Clinician to join our Admin Cardio-Pulmonary team. This is a Monday through Friday position, offering a daytime schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Cardiovascular experience in areas such as cardiology, vascular, or cardiac surgery (inpatient or outpatient) is preferred. However, we are also open to considering candidates with experience in the Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or Operating Room (OR). As a nurse leader, the Clinician will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence in patient care. This highly developed role models professional nursing practice and is responsible for overseeing the achievement of exceptional care standards. Under the general direction of the Unit Director or department manager, the Clinician will manage staff performance, conduct employee evaluations, and participate in the recruitment and hiring process. Additionally, the Clinician will provide service-based education, clinical expertise, and support to staff, including orientation, training, and ongoing consultation. In this role, you will also support the non-invasive and invasive cardiology departments by coordinating new educational training programs for echocardiography, as well as invasive and non-invasive cardiac technicians.

Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.

Actively precepts student nurses, nurse interns, and both new and experienced nurses. Assists in the development of new preceptors and supports continuous learning for all staff.

Patient-Centered Care: Aligns daily work with national professional standards and UPMC goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Fosters a caring, compassionate, patient-focused experience through healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Disseminates new knowledge and innovations through presentations, posters, and publications.

Nursing Practice: Applies nursing knowledge and skills within the framework of Relationship-Based Care, addressing the clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and families. Utilizes critical thinking to assess and manage clinical, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues throughout an episode of care. Ensures clear and accurate communication, including thorough patient documentation to enhance collaboration among caregivers.

Clinical Leadership: Identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and staff development, leading change initiatives. Supports staff through transitions, ensuring their psychological and educational needs are met. Participates in shared leadership at the unit, facility, and system level. Leads formal initiatives such as quality improvement, evidence-based practice, or new hire onboarding.

Staff Management: Completes performance evaluations for direct reports and assists in the management of staff performance. Supports professional development through continuous feedback and ongoing educational opportunities.
