Works with the team leader(s) to assess, develop, coordinate specific education needs and provides and evaluates programs. Assures programs are based upon advances in healthcare, are age specific and when applicable, comply with regulatory agency requirements Performs respiratory skills appropriate to license and/or legal credential.
Job Duties Assists with the development of departmental competencies and skills assessments.Maintains a cutting-edge knowledge of new technologies and trends in healthcare, respective to clinical specialty area, i.e. geriatric, adult, pediatric, and neonatal.Coordinates Respiratory Care Services annual or biannual continuing education program Participates in performance improvement activities and research studies.Assesses the learning needs of the department in general and those of the clinical specialty area and contributes to the educational planning for these areas.Coordinates department education of new products, equipment, procedures, etc.Acts as the primary preceptor for an orientee, by precepting the orientee in a specific area.Coordinates other staff to function as preceptors during the orientation process.Monitors the orientee's progress through the first six months of employment.Participates in the formulation of respiratory policies and goals as well as policies affecting other departments, Communicates and interprets policies, procedures and regulations to staff members.
