This co-op will be full-time, onsite in Duluth, MN from January 2025 through August 2025. This position is desired to be full-time, however a mix of part-time in the Spring semester, and full-time in the Summer can be discussed. 

Job Duties:

Research and Implement Data Ingestion Solutions: Explore and implement suitable methods for capturing and streaming video, audio, numerical data from cameras and other sensors to cloud platforms like Azure. Configure Cloud Storage and Pipelines: Manage Azure storage solutions and create efficient data pipelines for real-time and batch processing. Preprocess and Clean Data: Develop scripts to clean, normalize, and format data for analysis. Develop ETL Workflows: Build automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to transform raw data into structured formats for machine learning. Integrate with Machine Learning Pipelines: Work with data scientists to connect prepared data to machine learning models on Azure. Optimize and Monitor Pipelines: Monitor data pipeline performance and optimize for scalability. Document and Collaborate: Maintain clear documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data engineering tasks with broader project goals.

Qualifications:

Relevant Degrees: Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, AI, or Machine Learning. Key Skills: Experience with Azure cloud services, data engineering tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks), data labelling tools (Label Studio, CVAT), versioning tools like DVC, programming (Python, R), and ETL processes. Experience Areas: Data pipelines, video/audio processing (OpenCV, FFmpeg), machine learning integration, and big data analytics. Strong communication skills: Be able to concisely document and explain workflows and design choices.

Preferred: 

Azure Services Expertise: Experience with Azure tools like Blob Storage, Data Lake, Machine Learning, IoT Hub, and related data services. Prior internships/projects: in data engineering or cloud computing, strong problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Experience with aircraft data buses

Additional Requirements: 

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen & background check. Must be able to complete entire duration of co-op. Must be able to secure local housing for duration of co-op.
