Ford Global Data Insights and Analytics is looking for a Cloud Data Architect, an exciting opportunity on the team supporting some of Ford's most visible initiatives. The role of the Cloud Data Architect is a critical enabler in helping us deliver solutions to the enterprise that take advantage of Ford’s vast and varied data landscape. This role will take on the most difficult data challenges in the industry and help us realize a modern enterprise data platform for one of the world’s most iconic companies. The Cloud Data Architect will help drive our strategy for ingesting, storing, and utilizing streaming data from devices, vehicles, machinery, and more. He or she will develop and drive standards for reusability, quality, and availability for our enterprise data products and will design novel solutions to turn the information in our systems into insights for leaders and decision-makers
Bachelor’s (or Equivalent) Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Engineering, or related field 12+ years of experience as a Data Architect or similar role with a strong focus on streaming, unstructured, and semi-structured data. Expertise in GCP data services like Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, and related technologies. Experience in Cloud (GCP, AWS, ..), SQL and NoSQL databases, Java, Hadoop, Python, Spark, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and Data Marts preferred Strong understanding of distributed systems, data processing frameworks, and data warehousing concepts. Expert in SQL for querying and manipulating data. Experience with Python for data processing, scripting, and automation. Experience with data modeling, data governance, and data quality best practices. Excellent organizational skills Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to transfer knowledge to others Experience with DevOps practices and toolsDefine and document the streaming data architecture and roadmap: This includes defining data ingestion, processing, storage, and consumption patterns, as well as identifying and documenting key performance indicators (KPIs). Design and implement streaming data pipelines: Leverage GCP services like Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and BigQuery to build reliable and efficient data pipelines. Develop and maintain data schemas and data models: Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality across the streaming data ecosystem. Learn, know and understand Ford’s enterprise data assets Think creatively about new ways to use the data in our environments to progress the goals of our business. Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders: Work closely with other teams to understand their data requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Perform performance tuning and optimization: Identify bottlenecks and optimize the performance of streaming data pipelines to meet business requirements. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in streaming data: Continuously learn and adopt new technologies and approaches to keep our data architecture at the forefront of the industry. Grow and lead a team of data engineers to support similar initiatives
