Responsibilities

Our client is seeking a Senior Cloud Efficiency & Optimization Integration Engineer to join their team! This role will be responsible for enhancing the performance and efficiency of the integration services for the government agency's public-facing Marketplace hosted on an AWS cloud infrastructure, consisting of a complex integration of about 35 different systems.
This role requires an expert who will analyze, plan, design, and implement a structural framework that aligns IT strategies with the agency's mission and goals. The engineer will ensure that systems are designed/enhanced to support current and future requirements, adhering to standards for open systems architecture and compliance with agency enterprise architecture.

 

This position will involve collaborating with multiple vendors to optimize the integration of over 70 web services (APIs) and applications, ensuring seamless operations and maximum efficiency.

Integration Strategy and Planning:Develop and execute integration strategies that align with the agency’s mission and cloud infrastructure goalsAnalyze and design cloud architecture to support the integration of services and applicationsEstablish system information requirements in collaboration with information engineers to ensure smooth integrationSystem Integration and Optimization:Lead the integration of new services, applications, and APIs into the existing AWS infrastructure, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and cloud best practicesEvaluate and troubleshoot workflow and organizational issues, proposing corrective actions to optimize performance and efficiencyOptimize cloud resource utilization in AWS (and Azure where applicable) to ensure cost-effective performance, scalability, and securityAutomate repetitive tasks using AWS Lambda, CloudFormation, and other automation tools to streamline deployments, monitoring, and infrastructure changesMonitor system performance metrics and recommend improvements to optimize cloud-based systemsCollaboration with Stakeholders:Collaborate with internal teams, cloud architects, developers, and third-party vendors to ensure the seamless integration of over 70 web services (APIs) and applicationsWork with vendor teams to ensure successful integration of their services into the Marketplace, meeting both technical and performance requirementsFacilitate cross-functional communication among various stakeholders, including vendors and internal teams, to ensure alignment on project objectivesWork with project managers to align cloud initiatives with overall project goals and timelinesSecurity, Compliance, and Standards:Conduct security assessments to ensure compliance with agency, industry, and federal standards, including IAM, VPC security groups, and encryption protocolsCollaborate with the security team to maintain compliance with security policies, data governance standards, and industry best practicesEnsure that integration solutions align with open systems architecture standards and cloud security best practicesContinuous Improvement and Change Management:Lead change management efforts to ensure the successful adoption of new cloud technologies and integration processesConduct periodic reviews of cloud architecture and integration processes, implementing improvements to support future cloud capabilities and service expansionsIdentify and evaluate emerging technologies that could enhance integration capabilities, ensuring the agency’s systems remain scalable and adaptableDocumentation and Reporting:Document architectural designs, processes, and integration methodologies for future reference and compliancePrepare and deliver presentations on system performance, optimization efforts, and integration strategies to stakeholdersCreate detailed reports on system performance, optimization efforts, and vendor contributions, highlighting areas for improvement and successLeadership and Training:Provide technical leadership in architecture design discussions and decisions, ensuring best practices are followed for integration and cloud optimizationDevelop training materials and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members on integration processes, cloud technologies, and optimization strategiesStrategic Planning and Resource Management:Participate in strategic planning for the future cloud capabilities and service expansions to ensure the agency’s infrastructure meets evolving needsAssist in resource allocation and budget planning for cloud-related initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources while optimizing cost-effectiveness

Requirements

A minimum of 7+ years of relevant job experience is required14+ years of overall IT experience is requiredCloud architecture design (AWS, Azure) experienceData analysis and performance monitoring experienceVendor management and collaboration experienceSystem integration and troubleshooting experience Compliance with open systems standards experienceDocumentation of architectural designs and processes experienceWorkflow analysis and optimization experienceSecurity assessment and risk management experienceProject management principles experienceResource allocation and budget/cost management (including Cloud Expenditure) experienceEmerging technology evaluation experienceAPI integration and management experienceTechnical training and mentoring experienceCommunication with stakeholders and teams experienceStrategic planning for cloud initiatives experience

Preferred Requirements

Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Familiarity with DevOps practices and toolsKnowledge of machine learning applications in cloud environmentsExperience in government contracting environmentsUnderstanding of child welfare and compliance standards related to the projectExperience with Agile methodologiesFamiliarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning

Education/Certification Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is requiredMust have the listed below certifications currently active to be considered for this position: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – ProfessionalMicrosoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect ExpertCertified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or similar cloud security certifications
