Semper Valens Solutions is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a large Air Force, IT enterprise, Cyber Weapons System\/Program in San Antonio, TX.\n
Duties:\n\nDesign, deploy, and manage virtual cloud infrastructures across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud) such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud (IaaS & PaaS).\nEnsure integration of multiple Cloud teams, processes, and instances to meet a holistic solution.\nMaintain and optimize virtualization platforms like VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and cloud-native virtualization solutions.\nAutomate deployments and configurations using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.\nProvision, maintain, and scale cloud resources in AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI in collaboration with cross-functional teams.\nMonitor cloud resource utilization to ensure cost efficiency and scalability.\nTroubleshoot and resolve system, application, and infrastructure issues, performing root cause analysis as needed.\nEnsure infrastructure meets security, compliance, and operational standards within a DevSecOps framework.\nSupport CI\/CD pipelines and integrate infrastructure automation into the development lifecycle.\nImplement and manage containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, for microservices architectures.\nConfigure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure system and application availability and performance.\nIdentify and implement optimizations to improve efficiency, reduce latency, and enhance system uptime.\nApply security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), network segmentation, and encryption, to protect hybrid cloud infrastructures.\nAssist in audits and compliance initiatives (e.g., RMF, NIST, ISO 27001).\nDocument procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to enhance knowledge sharing.\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth and development initiatives.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

Required Skills & Experience:\n\nDetailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.\nProficiency in virtualization technologies, including VMware, Hyper-V, and OpenStack.\nStrong expertise in US-Gov\/DoD cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).\nHands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.\nSolid understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).\nFamiliarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) and incident management.\nFamiliarity with networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and firwalls.\nPractical knowledge of DevSecOps principles, methodologies, and best practices.\n\n
Qualifications:\n\nRequires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.\nMust have a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).\nMust have an advanced cloud certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer for example).\nMust have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS\/SCI\n\n
Preferred Skills and Certifications:\n\nCloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer. \nSecurity Certifications: CISSP, CEH, GIAC or Cloud Security Automation (GCSA).\nExperience with security frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53).\nKnowledge of scripting or programming languages, such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.\nFamiliarity with log management and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, or ELK stack).\nExperience with SIEM and\/or SOAR tools and capabilities.\n\n

Less than 10% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.\n
