Cloud Engineer

Role Purpose:

The Cloud Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure. This role focuses on optimizing cloud environments, ensuring high availability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient solutions.

 

Job Metrics:

Efficiency and performance improvements of cloud services. Number of successful cloud solution implementations. Average time to resolve complex technical issues. Rate of automation and process optimization. Compliance with security and best practice standards.

 

AREAS OF PERFORMANCE

 

Core Tasks:

Implement automation for routine tasks to improve efficiency. Participate in resource allocation and cloud costs. Implement and execute of medium-sized cloud projects. Collaborate with development teams for seamless integration. Security Implementation. Implement security measures for cloud infrastructure. Ensure compliance with security best practices. Identify areas for improvement in cloud processes and technologies. Stay abreast of industry trends and integrate best practices.

 

Management/Leadership:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance.

 

Documentation/Governance:

Implement documentation standards for the team. Ensure compliance with security and governance policies in cloud solutions.

 

Stakeholders’ Duties:

Collaborate with development teams for seamless integration of applications. Provide clear communication on project timelines and deliverables to stakeholders.

Knowledge and Expertise:

Demonstrate expertise in cloud automation and optimization. Showcase knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments.

 

Planning:

Engage in resource planning for medium-sized cloud projects. Identify areas for improvement in cloud processes and technologies.

 

KEY SKILLS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Industry Specific:

3+ years of experience in cloud engineering. Previous experience in network, system engineering or infrastructure roles.

 

Specific Qualifications and Accreditations:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.  (*Region specific, NA for US). Mid-level cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Cloud is a plus[DD1] . Professional Cloud Architect is a plus.  

Environment:

Ability to work effectively in a global team environment.

 

Product/Technical:

Proficiency in cloud services and deployment (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) Experience with automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

 

Professional/Tasks:

Project management skills managing medium-sized projects. Collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork. Experience in implementing and maintaining scalable solutions. Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex technical issues.

 

Personal:

Ability to follow process but to remain flexible in achieving project objectives. Curious, interested in new products and technologies. Engages quickly, remains highly engaged regardless of frustrations and obstacles. Motivate, eager to learn and demonstrate values, able to learn independently, research via multiple sources and finds information as needed.
