HOW A CLOUD OPERATIONS SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Cloud Operations Specialist will be responsible for working with highly functional team which onboards cloud developers into the Common Operations Release Environment (CORE) which is a collection of services that enable developers to deliver mission-specific software in our customer’s cloud environments.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Address developer inquiries, questions, and issues concerning NGA-provisioned development toolsOnboard developers into the Common Operations Release Environment (CORE) software factoryProvision AWS WorkSpaces to developersDevelop/update WorkSpace bundlesCreate and manage IAM users and policiesManage Active Directory users, groups, and OUsManage access to CORE’s DevSecOps tools including GitLab, Nexus, Kong, OpenShiftMonitor CloudWatch metrics for health and utilization of AWS resources and applicationsMaintain and document procedures for onboarding customer internal and external teams

Education/Experience:  

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience7+ years IT developer experience

Required Skills:

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologyFamiliarity with DevSecOps development processes and GitLab Continuous Integration toolStrong understanding of RHEL/CentOS Linux distributionsExperience with PythonStrong knowledge of Amazon Web ServicesStrong troubleshooting skillsStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenExcellent attention to detailTeam player who works well with customers and colleaguesWork effectively both independently and in a team environment

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of Containerization and KubernetesUnderstanding of cloud APIsExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC); preferably Terraform

The likely salary range for this position is $101,566 - $131,584. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
