The Role
As a Storage Engineer you will play a pivotal role in architecting, implementing, and maintaining storage systems that meet the evolving needs of our clients. Your expertise in storage technologies and infrastructure design will be instrumental in ensuring data availability, optimizing performance, and enhancing data security.
Storage System Design and Architecture:
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand storage requirements. Design and architect storage solutions that align with client needs and industry best practices. Evaluate and recommend appropriate storage hardware and software components.Storage Implementation and Configuration:
Deploy and configure storage arrays, SAN/NAS devices, and related infrastructure. Set up and fine-tune storage systems to optimize performance and reliability. Ensure proper integration of storage solutions with existing IT infrastructure.Data Migration and Storage Expansion:
Plan and execute data migration projects, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime. Assist in capacity planning and storage expansion projects to accommodate data growth.Data Security and Compliance:
Implement robust security measures to protect stored data. Ensure compliance with relevant data security regulations and industry standards. Conduct security assessments and audits as needed.Backup and Recovery Strategy:
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data. Test backup and recovery procedures regularly and make improvements as necessary.Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
Monitor storage system performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks. Implement performance tuning measures to enhance system efficiency.Troubleshooting and Incident Resolution:
Diagnose and resolve storage-related incidents and issues. Collaborate with support teams to ensure timely incident resolution.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and best practices. Share knowledge and mentor junior team members as needed.Emerging Technologies Evaluation:
Stay current with industry trends and emerging storage technologies.Evaluate new technologies and recommend their adoption when beneficial.
The Requirements
5-10 years’ experience managing NAS and SAN data storage arrays in an enterprise setting. Prior roles of a similar nature in a highly regulated environment are a plus.Industry certifications or a demonstrable experience managing data storage systems in an ethernet and fiber channel switching configuration. FC zoning, array volume management/consumption supporting virtualized compute environments.
