UST is recruiting for Cloud Solution Architect to join our client team in East Midlands, who will be responsible for defining and driving the client’s migration of applications from on premises or existing tenants to the new IT2A tenant. This includes driving assessments of existing application and infrastructure implementations on premises or Azure, reviewing current architecture and applying Azure cloud best practices of PaaS where appropriate and ensuring current application capabilities are supported.

The role will be responsible for communicating with application, DBA, and service teams to schedule assessment sessions to collect current state, access existing on-premises or Azure deployments and producing accurate current state architecture and deployment artefacts such as security groups, service accounts and user assessments to support a smooth migration from one tenant identity to another. As part of a programme of work the role will be responsible for technical leadership and giving clear migration guidance and technical project status.

Key responsibilities:

• Drive migration assessment and discovery

• Align to CCoE / Azure best practices and design patterns.

 • Creation of High-Level Designs including Key Design and Architectural decisions.

 • Provide project specific guidance

• Outline migration approaches and best practice modernisations where appropriate.

• Work alongside the CCoE engineering, DBA and build teams to support the production of low level designs – build sheets.

• Participate in engagement with business partners to provide migration plans and agree appropriate downtime and migration plans.

• Provides direction for infrastructure & application architecture in cloud environments.

• Collaboration with Cloud Engineers to unblock solutions, reviewing IaC assets and identify any gaps in the CCoE engineering patterns to support build and ensure smooth and timely build and migration.

• Participate in project standups and planning sessions to ensure technical integrity and guidance of plans, take ownership of technical deliverables and support the application migrations from design through to migration and warranty.

What you’ll need to have:

• Experience as a Cloud Solutions Architect with successful track history in leading technical assessment, discovery and architecture discussions with stakeholders at all levels (i.e. senior management, project/programme management, Applications/Service Management and DevOps teams) to deliver secure and compliant cloud infrastructure solutions

 • Experience of designing Microsoft Azure based cloud solutions and tenant to tenant migrations.

• Strong knowledge of cloud-based (IaaS, PaaS & SaaS) technologies, in particular Microsoft Azure

• Strong fundamental experience of Core Infrastructure concepts (eg. Networking and DNS)

• Strong fundamental experience of complex integration with various middleware products including Talend, APIGEE.

 • Great database experience of Azure SQL / SQL Server and data migration approaches to liaise with CCoE DBA’s.

• Experience of successfully designing and deploying solutions in complex multi-vendor projects and where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects

• Experience and understanding of large-scale multi-tier infrastructure deployments in global enterprise environments

• Creates design documents that ensure consistency in development across the IT/Engineering organisation. Participates in the definition of IT/Engineering architecture to ensure that the IT/Engineering organization's solutions are built within a consistent framework.

 • Be an excellent communicator and comfortable at explaining and presenting both solutions and rationale for decision making to both technical and non-technical audiences via documentation and presentations. Attention to detail in all communication.

• Certification: Azure Solution Architect Expert

• A broad understanding of modern software licencing models and cost optimisation strategies (i.e. TCO) for Cloud hosted solutions, with experience of making cost optimisation recommendations during solution design

• Experience of managing a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple organisations and influencing their conflicting objectives into a pragmatic solution and deliverable release schedule
