Development of the Tools to Support customers in migrating to cloud

 

Oracle Estate Explorer has quickly become an essential customer-facing tool that is driving customer adoption of ADB around the world with over 100 large database customers already using the tool. Customers have adopted the tool very quickly, and customers have also helped us identify new tools needed by customers to support their migrations.
 

This role will develop and extend Estate Explorer, and also support the development of new tools to support customers

 

Supporting customers in the use and execution of the tools

 

The Cloud technology Specialist will work with the customer to install and run the Estate Explorer tool and any other tools, and will also help the customer in interpreting the results and selecting the best target service for the planned databases - I.e. for each database to have a recommended best target of ExaCS or ADB.

 

This will also include supporting the customer in building a TCO model that will demonstrate the overall value of a move to OCI, and also the specific additional value of moving to ADB.

 

 

Supporting ADB pilots and PoCs as part of an Estate Modernisation

 

The Cloud technology Specialist will support customers who are running an ADB pilot/PoC as part of a larger estate modernisation plan. Their role will be in addition to the pre-sales organisation and the Cloud Technology Specialist will only engage where specific barriers have been identified that cannot be resolved by the usual pre-sales team

 

The specialist will also support the customer in advising the customer on how applications can be adapted for ADB where such changes as necessary. These changes will be limited to database, network, connectivity and similar issues, the specialist will not be involved in writing code for the customer.

 

The Specialist will work closely with the account team to ensure that all activities are aligned with the account and opportunity strategy, but will additionally work to build confidence in ADB within the account, This will include evangelising ADB with the account team, building a catalog of the customers’ database estate and building a migration plan and prioritisation model.

 

Building  and communicating best practice for Database Modernisation to Cloud

 

The Cloud Technology Specialist will be a key contributor to the best practice documentation for Database Modernisation to Cloud. The contribution of the specialist will focus on technical ADB related best practice including modernisation approaches for ADB, ADB work-arounds for ADB differences and ADB management best practices.

 

Using the best practice documentation, the specialist will help the customer understand best practices for ADB migration and support the technical integration of the customer’s application with ADB. This includes ADB related aspects of security, performance, data integration, MAA, connectivity, network and landing zone best practices.
