Job Description
Perform analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation. Responsibilities may include instrument operation and maintenance, troubleshooting assays, evaluating tests for accuracy, assisting with interpreting results, and operational support activities to optimize testing. Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results. May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection. Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.

This position is in the Cell & Molecular Immunology (CMI) Lab, which performs clinical testing on blood specimens from patients with suspected immunodeficiencies, both acquired and genetic, to assess immune cell subsets and immune function. The main technology utilized is flow cytometry. This particular position will be on the harvesting bench, involving manual pipetting of reagents following a multi-step protocol for a functional cellular immune assay. The role requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, lab safety, and the ability to work closely with a teammate. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekend shifts.
