Location: G&G Healthcare Position: CMA
Helps patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the offices andclinics of health care providers, such as, physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, andoptometrists.
Certified Medical Assistant Job Duties:• Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answeringor referring inquiries.• Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanyingthem to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helpingthem to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arrangingexamining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recordingmedical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.• Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers duringexaminations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratorytests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medicalinstruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refillsas directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; preparingpatients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changingdressings.• Educates patients by providing medication and diet information andinstructions; answering questions.• Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and testresults.• Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered;completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-partyinquiries.• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshootingbreakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; callingfor repairs.• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, andenforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient careinformation confidential.• Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adheringto professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and localrequirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthcareOrganizations (JCAHO) standards.• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; readingprofessional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating inprofessional organizations.• Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership foraccomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add valueto job accomplishments.
