Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Certified Medical Assistant position is to perform a variety of procedures within the clinic setting under the direction of the clinic supervisor and medical director.
Primary Duties
Greet and welcome patients Responsible for answering phone calls and scheduling Participates in the admission process for patients. Computer registration Pulling and filing of charts Collection of monies Collects and documents patient information. Shows awareness of patient’s needs. Assures patient confidentiality. Performs ancillary screens-drug testing, breath alcohol testing Injections of medications under the supervision of physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner from a single dose vial Blood Draws Assist physicians in patient visits and procedures. Documents accurately. Communicates effectively and works well with patients, co-workers and physicians. Facilitates patient flow to maintain schedule. Performs clerical duties, as needed. Initiates change to improve service and efficiency in the unit. Performs various medical tests within the realm of training.. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting daily needs of the clinic. Facilitates patient records are available for future visits. Verification of patients insurance coverage and precertification. Prioritizes duties effectively and efficiently. Participates in cost control program for the unit. Handles supplies in a cost-effective manner. Maintains good attendance. Maintains professional appearance. Changes behavior in response to guidelines. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting daily needs of the unit. Accepts additional duties and responsibilities within the realm of training, as needed. Work health fairs as needed Cross train with many other duties for coverage purposes

Qualifications
1. Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Ohio.
2. May need current Ohio driver’s license.
3. Possess tact and sympathy necessary in dealing with patients and fellow employees.
4. Computer skills a must
Working Conditions
1. Monday through Friday Day Shift
2. Subject to frequent interruptions during performance of duties.
3. Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff to maintain adequate unit coverage.
4. Expected to adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
5. Expected to fulfill position description requirements.
6. Considerable standing and walking.
7. Possible exposure to ionizing radiation.
8. Close contact with patients under mental and physical stress.
9. Hazardous Exposure Category: 1.
Annual Requirements
The completion of all annual requirements is mandatory every year. Pay raises will be held until completion is documented. These may include:

“2” Master of Skills - This employee:

“0” Developing or Inconsistent - This employee:
1. Needs frequent supervision.
2. Performance does not yet meet the required expectations of the standard consistently. Any area that has
been evaluated at the Developing of Inconsistent level needs to have comments regarding what steps the employee will take to improve performance in that area. This rating for any standard on the appraisal may result in withholding of a pay increase at the director’s discretion until improvement is shown at the time of re-evaluation. Failure to improve a “0” within a 90-day period will result in disciplinary action.
