Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for the patent's age. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES + Accountable to the licensed nurses, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager and/or Orthopedic Service Line Director. + Demonstrates and promotes compliance to infection control, legal, and safety standards. + Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships. + Organizes and prioritizes care considering patient needs and preferences, module activities, and other commitments. + Performs basic patient care activities in a timely manner according to hospital policy and procedures including taking vital signs, assisting with meals, enemas, catheter care, hygiene measures, positioning/moving patients, specimen collection, application of restraints and treatments/tasks. + Provides care with sensitivity to the cultural needs of patients and with regard to their rights and privacy. + Demonstrates knowledge of the current condition of the patient and recognizes situations needing nursing supervision. + Answers call lights in a timely manner. + Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, performance improvement, and quality planning activities. + Utilizing the plan of care, the CNA assists the license nurse in data collection and documents appropriately to hospital standards.
