Position Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Team Highlights:
3N is a cardiology focused medical/surgical unit. The patient population is made up primarily of patients with diagnoses such as chest pain, congestive heart failure, NSTEMI, arrhythmia, and pulmonary embolism. Most of this patient population requires telemetry monitoring which is monitored by a central monitoring studio. Interventions for this patient population typically include stress tests, echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker placement, and heparin drips. 3N also cares for general medical and surgical overflow patients as needed within scope. Further education consists of a basic cardiac rhythm interpretation class (e-learning) and ACLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities:
Assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eating Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs but does not start or administer intravenous fluids Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if needed Documents patient interactions as needed Performs a variety of tasks Works under general supervision A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager Performs other related duties as assigned Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assignedRequirements and Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General OrientationWorking Conditions:
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position Typical equipment used in a clinical job Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment Must be able to assist in patient transferPart Time Night Shift
