Summary of Position:
Under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse and the Memory Care Resource Coordinator, a Lead Memory Care Aide is a Certified Nursing Assistant who assists residents with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize independence and quality of life for memory care residents. He/She will provide assistance to the Memory Care Resource Coordinator maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the residents. He/She will provide support to memory care RCAs for the daily routine of the memory care residents, documentation in PCC, and resident supply needs. They must also have an understanding of the Mission, Vision and Values of Masonicare.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides assistance with essential activities of daily living and personal care to resident based on, needs and abilities of the resident:
bathing and showering;dressing and undressing;ambulating;toileting;Incontinence care;assistance with meals and nourishments;personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail, hair and foot care);transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices; andsecurity and proper usage of personal care items such as eyeglasses, hearing aides, and denturesCueing and redirecting2. Assists in maintaining clean and safe common areas
3. Completes required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during shift
4. Assists with orientation and training of new staff
5. Provides assistance in maintaining a safe and homelike environment:
placing and/or receiving telephone calls; digital calls or digital meetings for residents performing light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, emptying trash, room straightening bed making and bed changes;laundering, folding and putting away of towels, linens and personal resident laundryinventory of personal care supplies ie) soap, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, shaving cream, lotion, incontinence products to include pads, briefs, and barrier pads.accompanying residents for internal transportation services6. Medication Assistance:
assists the resident with self-administration of medications, through cueing only as deemed appropriate by a licensed nurse7. Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks:
observes and reports changes in the residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to ALSA Licensed Nurses as needed;monitors for environmental safety hazards;reports incidents, errors or accidents to nurse supervisors;records resident and resident related events in the alert section of PCC8. Dining:
assists in a variety of tasks related to dining (escorting residents, set-up and clean-up, serving; meal cues and prompts; feeding and maintaining daily meal attendance record)Wipe down tables, chairs post mealsSweep and mop dining floors as needed9. Emergency Preparedness:
*responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations and during disaster drills10. Leadership:
is a resident advocate at all times;follows Masonicare policy concerning confidentiality;completes duties with minimal direction from supervisor;works collaboratively with colleagues;uses tactful, diplomatic communication in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations;acts as ambassador to guest and other off-campus visitors; andmaintains certifications required for employment11. Performs other duties as assigned and required.
