Position Overview: A professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients, providing care through the continued utilization of the nursing process in collaboration with other health team members. Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic nursing care activities to all patients. Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the unit. The Nursing Assistant I will process information on the Center's Health Information System as required in performing job responsibilities. Complies with departmental policies for reporting to work on time and for complying with designated meal/break period time frames. Attends and participates in department meetings. Demonstrates commitment to excellence by looking for ways to improve and promote quality. • Participates in the nursing plan of care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. Implements nursing care on individual patients as directed by the Registered Nurse. Documents nursing care and essential data on the appropriate chart and forms according to established procedure. Consistently and accurately records essential data utilizing all charting forms and records correctly as directed by RN. Accurately performs basic skills in providing patient care. Has thorough knowledge of all established procedures and how to apply them. Maintains supplies and equipment on the nursing unit. Consistently aware of costs containment program. Projects future needs for equipment and supplies. Initiative/Job knowledge - has thorough knowledge of all phases of job. Attempts to learn all job-related tasks in his/her department. Qualifications: Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. Certification by State certified nursing assistant program as a Nurse Aide I. Up to date on CPR. Must be able to work under the direction of a licensed nurse and follow written or verbal instructions effectively. Participates in educational conferences, completes education in-services, and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to areas of practice.
