Responsibilities

This role supports the professional growth and development of Certified Nursing Assistant Students through theoretical, didactic, simulated and clinical experiences in support of the CHI Health Nursing Strategic Plan and Vision. Responsible for collaboratively implementing education initiatives that meet the local state’s requirements.  Acts as change agent and mentor while promoting interdisciplinary teamwork and evidence based practice and teaching. Promotes excellence, as an instructor and mentor to enrolled Certified Nurse Assistants students and assists Certified Nurse Assistants students in preparation for standardized testing for certification testing (clinical and written).

Assesses, researches, coordinates/facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Certified Nurse Assistant education program. Serves as an instructor and coach for student learners, validating content is aligned with the state’s standard of educational practice.Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and student learning.Implement existing lesson plans and instructional materials to translate lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential learning, challenge students and to best utilize the available time for instruction. Incorporate best practices, data-driven decision-making and explicit instructional strategies as a component of lesson design. Provide clinical training and general supervision to students in the classroom, simulation room and at clinical sites.  Evaluate the interpersonal skills, knowledge base and technical skills of students in each of these environments to measure student performance.Actively seeks out evidence based practice and findings and applies to clinical excellence and education. Coordinates and facilitates simulated and direct care experiences for student learners via a collaborative process with CommonSpirit hospitalsActs as role model, mentor, and leader to the student learners and contributes to the ongoing development of Certified Nurse Assistants, post-graduation as a mentor and coach in interviewing, professional relationships and advancing the learner’s education.
Qualifications

Required: 

Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa or nurse licensure compactBachelor’s of Science in Nursing BLS: Basic Life Support, required upon hireBLS Instructor required within 30 days of hireMinimum 3 years working as a Registered NurseMust have experience working in an acute care or nursing home settingPrevious teaching or facilitating experience requiredNursing education experience demonstrating progressive experience in the development and implementation of clinical education programs

Preferred: 

Master's Degree in Nursing2 years long-term care experienceFluent in SpanishProfessional certifications (DNS-CT, CDON/LTC, or CLTC)
