Job Description Summary:
Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). Provides excellent customer service and administrative support as applicable to assigned area(s).Qualifications:
Current Montana Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Certificate required.Minimum of one (1) year CNA work experience required.Current CPR certification as applicable to assigned area(s).Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) experience preferred.Minimum of one (1) year experience in acute care preferred.Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other software as needed. Previous experience with electronic medical record (EMR) programs required.Medical terminology knowledgeTo be eligible for the Phlebotomy portion of the position:Current phlebotomy experience; orCollege course work in phlebotomy completed and successfully pass a phlebotomy skills test.Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.Job Specific Duties:
Performs administrative tasks in an organized and accurate manner as applicable to assigned area(s) procedure and protocol.Delivers basic and advanced patient care under the guidance and direction of the RNs and LPNs to safely meet the needs of the patient in the assigned area(s).In collaboration with the RN/LPN coordinates workloads and patient priorities necessary to expedite processes. Assists in HUC duties and makes customer service a priority.Performs assessment while taking the patient’s vital signs and informs the RN/LPN of any abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s condition.Maintains patient privacy and documents care as defined by Logan Health policies and procedures.Assist the RN/LPN in maintaining assigned area(s); restocks rooms and supply areas, maintains the equipment in the patient care rooms for safety and cleanliness, assists in maintaining compliance with Medicare and all applicable regulatory standards.Adheres to and upholds all organizational customer service policies and standards while caring for patients and interacting with others.Exhibits knowledge of; policies and procedures as they relate to job duties, knowledge of safety policies and procedures and cost containment with all resources.Phlebotomy: Performs venipuncture to standard, including site selection and equipment choice.Verifies patient identification, labels specimen accurately, and orders and/or cancels test as applicable to the assigned area(s) procedure and protocol.The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job classification.
