Dixon Boss is seeking a CNC Journeyman Machinist for our team in Chestertown, MD. At least 10 years of previous manufacturing experience and Journeyman Machinist certification through the State of Maryland or equivalent are required. The right candidate will troubleshoot computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery that automatically mills, punches, drills, broaches, or reams metal and/or plastic parts. Make adjustments to adhere to established specifications or to correct faulty programming on the machines. Make general decisions as to quality, tolerances, and operation sequence. As a Journeyman Specialist, you will be integral to advancing production goals by assisting operators in achieving higher standards and optimizing manufacturing efficiency. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role focuses on improving production workflows, reducing setup times, and facilitating training programs for new operators. This will require the use of manual machines, hand and/or power tools, computer aided drafting, and/or computer aided work centers. The Journeyman Specialist also engages in continuous learning to develop his or her leadership and technical skills for future career growth within the division. This position is for our second shift, with hours from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Support and Development:
Work closely with operators to ensure a high standard of skill and knowledge, providing hands-on guidance and support to help them reach their full potential. Work with all levels of manufacturing to develop and implement training initiatives, working alongside new and existing operators to elevate their technical skills, ensure consistency, improve performance, and increase quality. Regularly evaluate operator progress, providing feedback to leadership for setting clear goals to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high standards.Production Efficiency and Process Optimization:
Collaborate with the Operations team to identify opportunities for reducing machine setup times, minimizing downtime, and increasing overall production efficiency. Conduct regular assessments of manufacturing processes, implementing improvements that streamline workflows and boost productivity. Foster a proactive approach among operators, encouraging them to suggest and participate in continuous process improvement initiatives.Leadership and Professional Growth:
Participate in development programs to build skills in leadership, decision-making, and communication, preparing for future supervisory roles within the division. This includes enhancing proficiency in Microsoft office and Google workspace tools to improve productivity and efficiency in data management. Take an active role in department meetings, contributing insights and feedback on teamperformance and production optimization. Consistently demonstrates exemplary attendance while upholding Dixon values and a strong commitment to the six pillars of character. Work closely with the Operations team and other leaders, gaining exposure to management practices and strategic planning.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Use Microsoft office, Google Workspace tools, and other data platforms to record and analyze production metrics, identifying patterns that help improve workflows and productivity. Prepare and present reports on setup times, operator training progress, and productivity targets, supporting the Operations Manager in making informed decisions. Create and/or maintain accurate records of machine operations, training sessions, and efficiency improvements for data-driven insights and transparent reporting.Safety and Compliance:
Uphold safety standards across the team, reinforcing compliance with all safety protocols and procedures to create a secure working environment. Educate and encourage operators to follow safety best practices, helping them understand and apply safety requirements effectively. Stay informed of industry regulations and company policies, ensuring all operations meet the necessary compliance standards.
