JOB OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for operating one or more Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machines in the production of high-precision small parts and cutting instruments.  Included in this role is the setting up the machines, the creation of part profiles and shapes, the placement of specific features, and the cutting or sharpening of instrument teeth meeting final specifications.  This position may include working mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends according to business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Reads prints and job orders for determining product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be usedOperates precision CNC machines to create products meeting required dimensionsInspects and measures parts created to ensure specifications are achievedMaintains job routing information and completes sign-offs as requiredPerforms other related production tasks during available timePerforms routine maintenance, lubrication and replacement of worn parts on machines in coordination with maintenance personnelInforms the subsequent shift operator of the production status of the current shiftKeeps work area clean and free of oil and other residueOther tasks as assigned by the Manager

WORK EXPERIENCE:   

• One year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

EDUCATION:   

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Certificate from college or technical school specific to CNC Machine Operation a plus

• Experience with Amada Laser a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:   

• Ability to read, understand and perform standard procedures and work instructions

• Intermediate mechanical skills required

• Intermediate math and logic skills required

• Intermediate computer skills and software use experience required

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Travel – typically not requiredPosition typically works in a manufacturing environment on site where environmental conditions are stable.  May be exposed to higher levels of noise typical in a manufacturing environment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, and operate manual and non-manual machinery; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, stretch and lift up to 20 poundsPosition requires use eye protection at all times while working
