Job SummaryThe CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machines to produce high-quality aerospace parts according to tight tolerances. This role requires a deep understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work with complex blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate has experience with aerospace materials, stringent quality standards, and a commitment to precision.
Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines to produce aerospace parts, ensuring all setups are accurate and repeatable. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T to understand part specifications and tolerances. Tooling & Fixture Management: Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and offsets based on material and design requirements. Quality Control: Inspect parts during production and conduct final quality checks to ensure compliance with aerospace standards. Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools to verify accuracy. Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and collaborate with the programming and engineering teams to reduce cycle times. Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance, including cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting minor issues. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production data, tool changes, and program adjustments to ensure traceability and compliance. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or an Associate’s degree in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred. Experience: 3+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, preferably in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing. Experience with both CNC milling and turning machines. Technical Skills: Proficiency in G-code and M-code, with the ability to make minor adjustments to programs as needed. Strong understanding of GD&T, precision measurement, and tolerancing. Familiarity with materials commonly used in aerospace, such as aluminum, titanium, and exotic alloys. Soft Skills: Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy. Good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machining and quality issues. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Certification: CNC Machinist certification or equivalent. Software Knowledge: Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and experience with CNC programming is a plus.
