Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are a precision manufacturer of aluminum and steel products for private and military applications. Our primary clients include major defense companies and the US Navy. We specialize in aluminum computer and systems enclosures.

ResponsibilitiesComplete and independent setup of all CNC and manual machines in a productive manner.Obtain standard or develop and utilize improvised tooling and fixturing to machine parts to required tolerances as specified by blueprints and other work instructions.Operate machining equipment to ensure all quality and efficiency requirements are met.Plan the tooling, programming, and material requirements for the next scheduled job to ensure systematic and efficient change over.Understand CNC machine programming and modify programs at the terminal as needed.Maintain accurate written and computerized records of tooling requirements and program changes.Perform periodic maintenance as required.Utilize tools, supplies, and equipment in a cost-effective manner.Demonstrate initiative, reliability, and success in achieving department objectives.Inspect own work to verify compliance.Essential SkillsRecent experience in CNC machining.Comfortable monitoring more than one machine at a time.High School diploma, Vocational school, or GED equivalent.Certificate of completion from an accredited machine shop course of instruction at a vocational/technical institute or demonstrated equivalent experience.Basic math skills with an understanding of 3 coordinate geometry and coordinate systems.Proficiency in advanced blueprint reading.Mechanical and computer aptitude.Ability to use all types of measuring instruments necessary to inspect work.Ability to work with heavy materials.2+ years of machine shop experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with CNC Machinist, Mills, HAAS, FADAL, Blueprints, Micrometers, Calipers, and Aluminum.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Our very clean shop has 20-30 employees and primarily works with aluminum (99% of the work). The shift available is from 2pm to 10:30pm. While steel toes are not required, closed-toe shoes or work boots are necessary, and no shorts are allowed. Jeans and t-shirts are acceptable, and safety glasses will be provided if needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hagerstown, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
