The CNC Lathe Machinist will machine parts and components utilizing a CNC Lathe per specifications on schedule and within budgeted hours.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Properly set up and operate CNC Lathe and machine parts/components to the required specifications. Make minor program edits on lathe utilizing the HAAS Controller. Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, drawings, specifications, materials, machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances. Properly identify, load, and utilize machining tools such as high-speed drill, carbide drill, insert drill, high speed drill, carbide drill, high speed tap, roll forming tap and boring head. Plan and perform a wide variety of diversified close tolerance lathe operations. Understand blueprints and drawings including symbols, welding symbols, material type and material shape. Perform basic machining math including fractional / decimal conversion, basic trigonometry (sin, cos), calculating dimensions and tolerances and determining missing linear or angular dimensions. Lift and position workpiece on machine table and secure it. Verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications using measuring devices and make corrections as required. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations. Keep machine tools in clean and working order. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance as required following manufacturer’s instructions. Understand and maintain both quality and quantity standards and expectations. Take pride in workmanship and possess a positive team-orientated attitude. Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance. 1-5 years related experience preferred Experience with CNC Lathes with G and M Code programming CNC control Preferred experience with HAAS Lathe and CNC control Background and experience with short production runs, multiple setups, and changeovers.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
