Summary:

The Machining CNC Operator is an important part of the Wabtec Team. The Machining CNC Operator operates the Machining department CNC Machines. Operators work hard to meet department production requirements while putting safety and quality first in all task. They use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to ensure quality is achieved in every part. A successful operator is responsible for working with Machinist to help setup other machines during the operation of assigned machines while learning and developing skills from machinist.

Duties and Responsibilities

Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machinesInspect parts with precision and measuring tools such as calipers and micrometersAssist Machinist in setups of machines during cycle of machines when neededFix issues that might occur during the shiftCheck output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flawsKeep records of approved and defective units or final productsDebur finished partsWork from a processFoster a Safety first attitudeFollow directions from shift supervisorsWillingness to learn and develop skillsAlways looking for process improvements

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively with managementAbility to effectively organize a work area to successfully complete taskMaintain a good attitude to keep a positive and productive environmentWillingness to work in a team atmosphereWillingness to work overtime as neededAbility to lift 35 lbs regularlyAbility and willingness to wear all PPE required by Machine ShopAbility to read blueprints in order to produce consistent and quality parts

Must have the ability to learn and develop into CNC MachinistRequires the ability to work without supervisionMust be able to read Micrometer, Blue Prints, and Calipers

Authority:

All WPT employees have the authority to stop the process they are performing, should the process become unsafe or the outputs nonconforming.

The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment and occasionally exposed to cold or hot weather conditions. Frequently exposed to load noises and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
