The CNC Program, Setup and Operate Machinist is a key member of the Regulator team responsible for meeting the throughput targets for all machine operations. This individual is also expected to lead Setup, Operation and continuous training activities of all machine operators in the department. They will primarily be asked to support various types of computer numerically controlled machines (lathes), and other assorted secondary operation machines to produce valve bodies and components in accordance with production needs and standard operating procedure. May operate various types of controllers, preset and change tooling as well as maintain inventory of commonly consumed tooling. This individual is required to participate in the development and adherence of PM activities throughout the department. Lead and set expectations for routine housekeeping and 5-S activities around all machines. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

YOU WILL:

Strip prior job and prepare machine for setup.Set machine up in accordance with printed setup sheets and by generally accepted machining principles, in order to maximize efficiency of job, and to insure proper machining of parts.Prepare the first piece inspection in accordance with company policy. If required, submit first piece to quality control department for inspection. Operate machines, when not engaged in a setup. Make minor and/or major adjustments to machinery to insure that production stays within established quality parameters. Be responsible for completion of production records such as recap cards and pan tickets.Assist in securing proper paperwork for operators within your compliment of machines. Be responsible for training machine operators in the operation of any machinery, Preventative Maintenance of machinery, in-process inspection of components, and any other training that may be prescribed from time to time.Monitor status of equipment periodically.Monitor and audit inspections performed by the machine operators.Communicates with the Value Stream Team Leader and/or Department Supervisor issues causing downtime that cannot be rectified immediately.Demonstrate proactive response in order to minimize equipment downtime.     

YOU HAVE:

High School Diploma or GED Excellent math skills Ability to use gages and precision measuring equipment and read and interpret blue printsPrior experience setting up various CNC machinesKnowledge of setting up and operating CNC Lathes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
