CNC Programmer

OPEX Corporation is looking to hire a CNC Programmer on our first (5:45am-2:00pm) OR second shift (2:00pm-10:15pm) to work in our manufacturing facility in Pennsauken, NJ.  The worker will programs a variety of CNC machines including HAAS VMC with 3 or 4 axis, Brother R650 pallet and S1000 VMC, MAZAK, DMG MORI, and Takisawa Mill-Turn Lathes to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces in a production environment.  Applies knowledge of machine shop procedures, programming knowledge, variety of machine-tool setup and operating techniques.  Trouble shoots programs with operators to set up and run the various machines using the correct speeds, feeds, and tools to assure the machine is operating at its peak performance as well as assuring that the completed work meets in house requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

Develop manufacturing processes by studying blueprints or CAD files to determine sequence of operations and finished dimensions of work piece; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment; conferring with tooling and equipment vendors. Selects correct cutting tools needed for each job. Selects feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, as well as other necessary parameters, applying knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics. Programs Jobs for CNC Machines using offline programming CAM systems FeatureCAM and Partmaker from engineering supplied solid model. Writes Set Up Documentation. Trouble shoots programs and jobs. Confirms that programmed jobs are running within times printed on job routing sheets. Communicates new set-up and run times as well as discrepancies for existing jobs to planners. Sets up machines to assist production when needed. Creates instructions for machinists. Maintain all engineering documentation including ECN's, tool lists, setup sheets and CNC programs. Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications. Analyze existing jobs; modify or rework for efficiency and cost savings. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; using online resources. Complies with all safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications  

High School diploma is required Associate’s degree in CNC programming strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience setting up and running miscellaneous CNC machines. Minimum 3 years’ experience programming Mill Turn Lathes and VMCs using offline CAM softwares. Experience with computer programming; G&M codes. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and sketches and follow verbal directions Ability to use calipers and micrometers Working knowledge of drawings, symbols, GD&T, tolerances and common terminology A comprehensive understanding of feeds and speeds for end mills, drills, reamers, saws, taps, etc. for aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, and plastics. Capable of visualizing complex three dimensional parts and determining the order in which features should be machined Working knowledge of scrap and rework requirements when discovered Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions) Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris Knowledge of electronics and machine tools. Must have good problem-solving skills. Must have excellent time management skills. Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.
