**CNC Prototyping Machinist**
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with a strong background in producing one-off parts and assemblies for prototyping. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience selecting suitable cutting tools, using CAM tools to generate tool paths, operating CNC machines, and inspecting the resulting parts to required tolerances. This position will work closely with R&D engineers to rapidly create prototype parts to customers and develop prototype production machines.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Establish and maintain an appropriate cutting tool and material library.
+ Use CAM software to generate tool paths and machine code.
+ Set up, program, and operate CNC machines to manufacture precision components in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
+ Adjust tolerances as needed for press-fit components and install those components into finished parts.
+ Add post-machining features such as threads, pins, thread inserts, and self-clinching fasteners.
+ Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop prototypes and custom parts, ensuring they meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
+ Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to ensure parts meet tolerances and specifications.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, adjusting as necessary to achieve optimal results.
+ Coordinate with vendors as needed to obtain materials, tools, and finishing services.
+ Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety and quality standards.
+ Assist engineers with assembly and testing of prototypes and manufacturing equipment in a laboratory environment.
**Qualifications:**
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist, preferably with a focus on prototyping and one-off part production.
+ Proficient in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) and at least one CAM software package.
+ Strong understanding of machining processes and methods, including milling, turning, and drilling.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
+ Familiarity with the machining of aluminum, steel, and rigid plastics.
