1.0 Position Summary:
To perform the duties as required in the MC Shop department specific to the CNC machines in order to ensure production requirements are met as well as being responsible for setup, programming and troubleshooting. These duties are to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring quality of the product and production rates are met.
2.0 Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
Set up, operate, program and troubleshoot various CNC machinesLead and train CNC operators in troubleshooting and correcting faultsRead and edit programs on CNC equipment with various controllersTroubleshoot tooling and equipment issuesFill out production sheets, tags, and ShoplogixProduce products to the rates and standards as set out in the Work OrderFollow proper setup instructions and procedures (layouts)Read and interpret production blueprintsUse appropriate gauges in order to produce products to quality standardsReport quality and/or tooling issuesPerform minor repairs on equipment as requiredEnsure product is running at optimum cycle times according to standardsEdit and modify CNC computer programs as necessaryCommunicate effectively with service technicians as requiredRotation through various work cells and shiftsSee PDA for comprehensive list of physical and work environment demands3.0 Health & Safety:
Maintain a safe workplaceWear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floorComply with the company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as requiredReport unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your supervisorMaintain a clean working environmentAdhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirementsAnnual medical surveillance may be required4.0 Quality:
Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered toMeasure product with supplied gauging as outlined in the quality standards to ensure quality products are being madeReport any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept and your supervisorFollow the control of non-conforming product procedure for any defective products found in your areaUse the vision system to complete first off inspection per run5.0 Autonomous Maintenance:
Prior to start of shift, take 10 min to inspect your work cell to the cell specific AM requirementsSign off on the AM checklist daily (initial and date)Follow the Process Problem Solving and Escalation system as required for any issues found6.0 5S:
Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standardsTake 5 minutes at the end of your shift to follow the daily 5S standards as posted in your work cellSign off on the 5S checklist daily (initial and date)Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately or write it down on the cell board for follow upSupport the monthly 5S clean up as required7.0 Daily Management:
Input WO and production information as required into the Shoplogix systemInput scrap during shift on Shoplogix system (input the scrap code and quantity)Input the correct downtime code for any downtime that the Shoplogix system identifiesParticipate in DM meetings and problem solving on a weekly basisUse cell level board and data to drive process problem solving and escalationCommunicate issues at the cell level board as required8.0 Standard Work:
Follow Standard Work procedures as posted in the cellCorrect any deviations from standard work procedures immediately9.0 Qualification:
Ability to read blueprintsKnowledge of programming is an assetAbility to read, and comprehend various machine manualsAbility to use various measuring devicesAbility to use JDE system (Work orders for products)Knowledge of all quality related requirements for inspectionAbility to understand CNC machine programs and fault correctionGood math skills are requiredExcellent computer skillsAbility to read and follow work instructionsAbility to read job packages and Work OrdersTechnical background and general knowledge of machinesKnowledge and ability to do tool grindingExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsSuccessful completion of all applicable pre-employment testingAbility to work in a collaborative team environmentMust obtain a grade of 90% or better10.0 Educational Requirements:
